U2 carry Berlin away
Almost precisely eight years after their last stop in Berlin the time had come: U2 played the Olympiastadion Berlin. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the classic album “The Joshua Tree” the band and its front man Bono gave their one and only concert in Germany, which was completely sold out, in the Olympiastadion Berlin.
Similarly to the Depeche Mode show two weeks ago the weather was bad unfortunately. With a few exceptions it was pouring nonstop. That didn’t cause the spirit any harm, one forgettable moment was followed by another endlessly. When Bono sang David Bowie’s “Heroes”, parts of it even in German, or when a 70,000 strong choir roared “Pride (In the name of love)” it was clear: U2 and Berlin – so compatible!
