The German national team has missed the perfect start to the qualifying for the World Cup 2014 in Brazil. Against Sweden the team already led 4:0, but in the end it was just a 4-4 (3-0). It was the first time in the 868th match in DFB-history that a German team has given away a four-goal lead.
Miroslav Klose opened the score after eight minutes and added his second only seven minutes later (15.). Before the break Per Mertesacker scored the german third goal (39.). Even in the second half Germany began well. Mesut Özil scored the 4:0. When Germany looked like the winner, the swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic headed the goal to 4:1 (62.). Mikael Lustig and Johan Elmander established connection to 4:3 (64./76.). Rasmus Elms goal in the additional time (90.+3) was the gratification for the swedish comeback.
