Herbert Grönemeyer album „Schiffsverkehr“ due to be released March 18
Herbert Grönemeyer is coming to the Olympiastadion Berlin on June 5, 2011 and ticket sales are already running high. Fans don’t need to wait until then to hear new music from him though, because on March 18, Grönemeyer’s 13th studio album “Schiffsverkehr” is due to be released. The first single off of the new album that bears the same name as the album is scheduled for release in early February.
Germany’s most successful pop musician with 13.5 million records sold produced his new album with longtime friend and co-producer Alex Silva. Sound engineers Michael Ilbert and David Hefti accompanied Grönemeyer for his first single „Schiffsverkehr“ in the process of fusing together the stilistic elements of rock and electronic music to a dynamic pop song. Final editing and blending was done by New York City based producer Michael H. Brauer who has already worked with stars such as Coldplay, Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones. The first single „Schiffsverkehr“ will be free for radio broadcast the same day that it will be available for sale as a CD and download.
Herbert Grönemeyer is scheduled to play at the end of May in selected stadia and open air locations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. After a four year “drought”, Grönemeyer returns to the Olympiastadion Berlin, where he will play on June 5, 2011. Ticket purchases and further information to the concert are available in our event calendar.
Grönemeyer concerts are not just loud, they’re a party. Grönemeyer is close to his fans as they are close to him. His songs „Bochum“, „Flugzeuge im Bauch“, „Musik nur, wenn sie laut ist“, „Männer“, or „Alkohol“ are anthems of German Rock that are essential to every party. „Mensch“ is one of the most popular German pop songs ever. In 2006 he climbed to the top of the charts with the official song to the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ „Zeit, dass sich was dreht“.
More than 400.000 tickets have already been sold for the concerts in Germany. Herbert Grönemeyer will be accompanied by Special Guest Norman Sinn on his tour. The stage design for the tour production is carried out by Dutch photographer and movie director Anton Corbijn, who has been a long time friend of Herbert Grönemeyer. Grönemeyer also composed the motion picture soundtrack to Corbijn’s latest film „The American“ starring George Clooney.
